- S: There are a few moments where the interactions between captor and prisoner that feel strange, particularly given that the prisoners never ask or try to reason with their
captor to go out of the bunker and seek help even at their own risk. The back and forth nonchalance versus asperity regarding contaminants feels strange, particularly since there is never
any concerned mention over the affliction being a viral contagion of some kind.
- C: The sets are excellent and detailed, and props feel realistic and play a huge role narratively. However, its hard to see the alien as anything other than a Xenomorph wannabe and the
shot choices feel predictable and blase.
- E: This movie is a nail-biter all the way through. The pacing, high quality acting, and concise writing all make it so there is never a moment to relax because there is always
a serious, mysterious, and ever-changing danger present.
- N: The story is quite strong conceptually, but has moments where dialogue is obviously written to enhance suspense to the point that it becomes borderline non-sensical.
- T: The film received two bonus points: one for an excellent performance from John Goodman that steals the show, and the increasing creativity of the main character to use
the items surrounding her to defend herself is incredible.
This movie is good, but I think could have been better if it didn't have to tie into the Cloverfield franchise.
