- S: Bob's relationships with the two primary women in the story feels strange and like there is something happening we aren't seeing. Also, where is the drug use?
- C: The musical performances are incredible and the costuming and hairstyling feel right, but the shots and lighting and sets don't feel special. It's missing that
visual touch to really bring this film over the edge.
- E: The excellent performances make this a fun watch, but it is a bit repetitive with the non-stop performances.
- N: The constant barrage of musical performances almost takes away from the story at times. The story, as a whole, feels too surface-level. No showing of
Bob's drug use. The sudden time cut to 1965 feels out of place, particularly since there is no other mention of time changes throughout the film. Sometimes feels like the story
can't decide whether to focus on the Folk music collective or Bob Dylan.
- T: The film received two bonus points: one for excellent musical performances from the actors, sometimes almost as good as the actual thing, and one for great all around casting.
It's a decent film that avoids many of the pitfalls common to celebrity bio-pics, but fails to go into enough detail about the main character. Musical performances
make this a worthwhile watch, and I would not be surprised to see Timothee Chalamet take home the best-actor oscar for his performance in this film.
