- S: A couple moments that may have been forced for the sake of the documentary; in particular, a scene around the grammy anouncements. Given how incredibly immersive this documentary is
in the lives of the O'Connell family, these scenes stick out.
- C: The film is shot incredibly. It's somehow able to capture these intimate family moments and also work as a set of awesome concert videos. Editing is magnificent, shining a light
on how to fit so much content with so much meaning into such a short window.
- E: An excellent blend of music and brilliant editing make this film impossible to look away from. The film's got so many highs and lows, it has drama and comedy and romance and heart-break.
What more can you ask for?
- N: This documentary is one unlike any other. How many documentaries have a story that is so thorough and is excellently captured that it would work as a scripted work of fiction? Not many.
The film takes place in real time; there are no post-event recaps or dramatizations. On top of that, the film is able to capture
a level of intimacy with the O'Connell family that is unprecedented.
- T: The film received five bonus points: one for an emotional set of interactions around Justin Bieber, one for an incredible interview with Billie's dad where
he discusses life and growing up, one for a profound, melancholic transition into an intermission, one for a moment between Billie and Finneas where they are writing a song that would later become
Happier Than Ever, and one for the documentary capturing a story in real-time that is tragic, heart-warming, inspiring, and real.
This is perhaps the best documentary I've ever seen. Say what you want about Billie Eilish and her music, this story and film work incredibly well separated from the
reality of their experience. Very rare that something so profound can be captured on film.
