- Sensibility: The film is littered with bothersome issues. The use of English throughout a primary issue, particularly amongst native Russians and in Russia; the film tries to code switch but does so very poorly. Sisters choosing to fight only to truce is complete nonsense for so many reasons. A rooftop combat with an assassin without a gun followed by some miraculous survivals from great falls is contemptible. A focus on a hearing detail in a helicopter feels like an appeal to a technical audience, but this nuance is ignored almost immediately after. Natasha's reversal on the family front feels unreasonably quick. The pheromone defense is not only outrageously dumb, but the execution is poor and the characters' decision making around this feature is nonsensical.
- Cinematography: Cgi is quite good and costuming is appealing, even if it isn't very sensible. Production design is a bit lackluster, with a lot of simple sets mostly comprised of cgi. Framing is fairly simple. There are some sequences of low angle shots that feel a bit out of place, and a couple of moments with awkward choreography, particularly the fight sequence on the bridge.
- Energy: The unbearable plot armor and extreme push for heart-felt moments weigh down the film. The back and forth between the family doesn't really work, because the changes are too sudden and there isn't a solid enough foundation to feel sympathetic.
- Narrative: The film too often forces a fight sequence from the characters when there is no need or reason for it. This dilutes the quality of the fight sequences that do belong in the film. The film also regularly introduces features or technologies that are painfully convenient plot movers. The focus on keeping the family together doesn't work because there is too little basis for the viewer to care about the family. Very hard to prioritize the importance of family over a firefight on a plane.
- T-Points: The film received one bonus point for a very interesting and well executed title sequence
Middle-of-the-road Marvel movie. This is one of the few Marvel films I've seen that feels like it had the origin story to be a solid film, but the story was executed so poorly that the film just misses the mark.
