- S: The film is surprisingly sensible, particularly given the complexity of the world. However, there is one important question that haunts the story; why does Love let Joe live? Also, confusing
how things can live and function in the irradiated old world.
- C: Perfection. The sets, the costuming, the props, the lighting, the use of color, and especially the visual effects are all of extreme excellence. It is rare that a film
can achieve such excellence cinematographically where all the elements contribute so strongly to the story. It really feels as though every other shot of this movie could be framed.
- E: Incredible. There is so much to look at and enjoy that you can't get it all on first watch. I've seen this film so many times and I still am excited to watch it again. All of
the beautiful cinematography is wrapped with an incredible score. The music is so perfect and adds so much to the film.
- N: I can't think of any other film that has a story that so perfectly encapsulates the human experience. An average Joe finds Joi in a simple life when
his hopeful realization that he is special scares him into action. He is then beaten down by life and Love, losing his Joi, and finding that he is not so special after all.
He learns that, through sacrifice, he can make a difference. What story could possibly be more relevant than that? Dying for the right cause is the most human thing we can do.
- T: This film received all five possible bonus points and I would have given more if I could. The story is outrageously good verbatim and then its metaphorical value takes it to a new level.
The music is just right for the film and adds incredible energy and gravitas.
There are so many note-worthy scenes: the opening retirement,
the baseline test, the birth of the new replicant, the scenes in the orphanage, the scene with the syncing of Joi and the prostitute,
the famously memefied scene on the bridge in the rain, the first scene at the memory facility, and the final scenes. The fight scene in the water is like the perfect blend of something out of Mortal Kombat and the bible.
This film is borderline perfect from start to finish.
This film is an unbelievable masterpiece. It is the perfect blend of a transcendental story with visual artistry. I feel as though I could award this film 100 bonus points,
because almost every shot in this film is dripping with meaning, and beauty, and energy that you can't even enjoy it all on the first watch. The cherry on top of all of this is that
it is a sequel to another incredible film in an incredible universe with incredible characters. Its so rare these days with the constant barrage of cash-grab sequels and prequels and re-makes
that we get something as special as this. It almost feels criminal to not have this film receive a perfect score.
