- S: Surprisingly sensible, but a messy ending makes for some confusion. Why a friend isn't informed of an illness is particularly puzzling.
- C: Some great frames, like a shot outside a restaurant. Costuming and sets are simple but effective. A bit of over-use of fish-eye blur during emotional moments and some rather bad CGI comets.
- E: The film starts off a bit slow and has some scenes that are unnecessary throughout the middle and end, but the big scenes are so interesting and the story is
very solid that it is still a great watch.
- N: A great, tragic, personal, funny, and heart-warming story. However, the ending is a bit fantastical given the harsh realities of the rest of the story.
There are some tangents that distract from the main plot.
- T: The film received two bonus points: one for a brilliant, emotional performance from Barbie Ferreira and one for a very nuanced performance of derangement from French Stewart.
I was expecting a feel-good drama, but I got way more than I paid for. Story is interesting and full of idiosyncracies that make it feel very personal. French Stewart performs
this very complicated Dad role with just the right blend of mania.
