- S: The film has a couple of oddities consistent with action films, particularly with the hero's plot armor and the other combatants' and characters' alacrity to join him in his fight for Rome.
- C: Fight choreography is quite well done. The shots of Elysium and shots of the field are excellent. Only negative is the costuming occasionally looks a little too fake to maintain
the illusion.
- E: Fun watch that is just a bit too long. There is a long sequence of whispers in back rooms discussing plots that I think belabors the point and the repetitiveness of some of
the Colosseum fighting.
- N: The story is interesting and the characters are well designed with clear motivations. The hero's connection with nature and dirt is also a nice touch.
- T: The film received three bonus points: one for an excellent scene where Maximus returns to his destroyed home, one for his patterned behavior with the soil, and one for a great delusion sequence
where he is floating above the ground and seeing visions of Elysium.
This movie is a classic because its energetic, has some great lines, is well acted, and is a great story.
