- Sensibility: A sudden change in the investigation to a cover-up and some of the lead detectives decision-making are whimsical and odd, but can be rationalized by the symptoms of his ongoing sleep deprivation.
- Cinematography: Production design and framing are highlights of the film. Every location is extremely memorable, stylish, and realistic. Lighting is rather uniform throughout, but then the highlights of the film are so strong in lighting composition that they stand out in stark contrast. The repetition in the delusion sequences is also excellent.
- Energy: The film is a bit of a slow burner as Jonas's condition deteriorates, but the strong points of the film are paired with unforgettable visuals that make these slow parts worth the wait.
- Narrative: Strong narrative direction and a very complex lead detective give lots for the story to explore. However, some moments with a hotel secretary and some strange interactions with a suspect present clear weaknesses in an otherwise solid story.
- T-Points: The film received three bonus points: one for a great opening sequence of a shooting in a fog, one for a brilliant shot of Jonas watching a man drown through a hole in a dock, and one for an unforgettable ending shot of Jonas driving a car.
Great blend of narrative and artistic prowess. A great film with a few moments so brilliant that they will probably keep me awake at night.
