- Sensibility: The relationship mess obviously tends a bit towards farce, but that's the point.
- Cinematography: Has a few moments that are striking. Unfortunately, these are few and far between and separated by long swathes of poor city imagery and terrible shots of the moon. Costuming is interesting, but production design is too simple to be meritable.
- Energy: The film nearly loses the plot entirely about half way through, drifting aimlessly around the opera and repeated dog-walking sequences. However, there are a few moments where the dialogue and acting click and make this a rom-com classic.
- Narrative: A messy group of love stories across multiple generations. The main plot is unfortunately very predictable and is resolved without nearly any conflict, but this plays into the farcical, comical undertone of the film.
- T-Points: The film received two bonus points: one for a great scene between a mother and potential son-in-law when her husband returns home and one for an old grandfather tearily exclaiming that he's confused.
Love an old movie with Nicholas Cage: they are almost always eclectic and weird enough to be worth the watch.
