- S: The main character's reverence for the nuns is confusing, particularly when he is challenging them directly. Also, the main character's empathy for others feels oddly timed, particularly
when seeing a beggar boy suffering versus seeing the girl in the coal shed. Similarly, the spread of news around town feels odd, when the interactions are purposefully kept secret.
- C: This film has some excellent touches to it. Particularly enjoyed the costuming and the makeup work.
- E: Great slow burner.
- N: The film has a pretty strong portrayal of how young trauma bubbles up. Also some emphasis on monotony and suffering that are well approached. Only issue is the main character's extreme reserved-nature.
His touch of 'tism seems too extreme at times relative to his general portrayal.
- T: The film received two bonus points for two scenes that I think are of extreme excellence: a scene between a husband and wife on the couch and a husband and wife discussing the past.
