- Sensibility: Every conversation with the doctor is insane nonsense. The story treats her schizophrenic ramblings as though they are critical story reveals in the crime mystery part of the story. This makes for a challenging watch for the viewer trying to make
sense of which ramblings matter and which don't. Add on top a sham investigation, a jump onto a moving train, escaping a ball-room stare-down, driving away from cops in a car chase, memory of disdain for oysters, and an ending shootout scene and this film is completely devoid of reason.
- Cinematography: The film's editing betrays its dialogue to an extreme level. Looks from characters and edited scene choreography is often at odds with the dialogue and narrative of the scene. While this could
be intentional to make the viewer uneasy, it does this without reward for these feelings and without purpose in the narative. The production design and score struggle to seat the film in a single clear time frame.
The film has a few inspired shots and moments, but overall is let down visually by its flaws.
- Energy: The choice of narrator and possession elements of the main character are corny enough to make this whole film hard to swallow. The movie is plagued by the bride's vocabulary tourettes which just inexplicably vanish after a while. The film's
inability to stick to a genre make for a tremendously uneasy and laborious viewing experience.
- Narrative: Lots of the dialogue is so quirky and odd that it makes the film confusing and hard to watch. In particular, lines like "don't smoke too much," "a disobedient geometry," and "we should sleep" are so unexpected and out of place that the film deteriorates so quickly it almost turns to farce.
A full backstory of a doctor's love story is pointless and adds run time to a film that was already dragging it's heels tremendously in the end. The film tries to be a horror film, then a thriller, then a romance, then a crime drama, then a feminist tribute, and then a sci-fi and does all of these poorly.
- T-Points: The film received one bonus point for a shot of the bride's head in a glass jar.
It's not the worst movie ever as many critics online proclaim, but it is certainly not good. Not worth seeing twice for sure. If someone asks you to see it, just say "I would prefer not to."
