- Sensibility: The character is so aloof that it makes some scenes feel unrealistic and hard to comprehend, but, in general, the film is fairly sensible.
- Cinematography: Production design is the highlight of the film, giving it a period feel and founding the narrative. Lighting and camera work are solid.
- Energy: The film is a slow burner in a great way. It exaggerates the reality of the living during the time period and establishes a realism that is, as it should be, sometimes slow and dull.
- Narrative: Classic down on his luck dad breaking bad story, but the main character is so aloof and listless in general that it gives the film an extra element to think on. However, I found the ending deeply unsatisfying, and the story had potential for some hard hitting emotional moments that it completely avoids.
- T-Points: The film received two bonus points: one for a great score and one for great production design, particularly some wacky animal art in a hotel James stays in.
Solid film with an interesting and unique main character and great visuals that give the film a nostalgic feel. Ironically, the strength of the character's idiosyncracies are also
a main contributor to the film's weaknesses.
