- S: The ending is messy with tons of plot holes; the daughter goes to the house? They are allowed to stay in the now potential crime scene? Convenient snow when its warm?
- C: The house is a beautiful set piece, but there are odd lighting transitions and nothing else particularly unique or spectacular. The shots of the bedroom door-frame are
good, but feel derivative.
- E: The acting and dialogue always have multiple layers to them, which takes away from the rawness of the story. The oddity of the interactions becomes distracting.
- N: The two main characters in the film are far too artificial. The lack of anger, grief, or even desires from Martha is too peculiar given her situation. This person is
nice in a story, but doesn't really exist in any form. The progression of the plot is predictable but also feels like its missing some big-ticket items. A scene about a faked suicide
gives for some very confusing reactions from both parties; the wind blew the door closed, really? This feels like it should have been a bigger deal than it was. The characters and dialogue all feel too contrived to make this very
emotional story feel real or meaningful.
- T: The film received one bonus point for a great shot of Martha laid out on the bed when they first arrive to their vacation destination.
The film is missing some emotionality to give the tragic story some more meaning.
