- Sensibility: Some gsw survivals give pause, but on the whole things are fairly sensible given all the violence.
- Cinematography: Visually excellent, highlighted by perfect, and I mean perfect, production design. There are so many shots that have a sneaky way of giving greater purpose and feeling to moments in the film. There are some visuals that have links throughout the film that give things a spiritual and narrative significance beyond just the written story.
- Energy: The pacing is slow enough to give the viewer time to simmer in the tragedy of the deaths involved while also fast enough to keep them interested. Only a few hitches around some narrative moments that feel unnecessary.
- Narrative: Excellent revenge thriller with a modern Western twist. The film doesn't waste time telling us about the history of this family that it doesn't need to but rather shows the relationships through simple dialogue and affectations between the characters. However, there are a few add-ons that don't feel necessary, like a brother's betrayal being revealed.
- T-Points: The film received four bonus points: one for perfect production design, one for a monologue before a revenge execution, one for a domino-style shooting, one for a brutal scene dragging a corpse behind a truck.
Genuinely one of the best movies I've seen this year. This movie is a perfect example of why the budget or scope of a film doesn't correlate with quality. Stunning visuals and a meaningful and inspiring narrative
combine to make a great film that deserves more attention than it will probably get.
